And I'm spent... [May. 8th, 2002|06:40 pm]
[mood |accomplished]
[music |Indigo Girls - Three Hits]

So, I finished writing my Independent Work report Monday at 4:55pm. It was due Monday at 5pm. I actually turned it in at 7:15pm (after reading it over once), but it was fine. I completely lost all concept of time, space, sleep, and just about everything this past weekend, but I ended up breaking 10K total words! I thought that was pretty cool. I still have two huge projects and a huge problem set due the 14th and the 16th, but after that I'm done done done! (I have a feeling the final phrase in the last sentence is a quote from Mark, but I don't know why or from where...).

So, until Wednesday, I'll just be working all day and taking breaks to juggle intermittently. I was working on two diabolos the other day and got a Sun a few times with 'em, which looks really cool. The head dude of Wilson College (a Butler College wannabe) asked if we want to juggle at the annual Wilson College picnic on Friday, and he even offered to pay us! We haven't worked out a price yet, but there will be three of us walking around entertaining for 2 hours-how much could we reasonably charge?

So, that's it for now. Still pretty busy, but I will try to get back here more often.

Time to get crackin' [Apr. 28th, 2002|06:36 pm]
[mood |busy]
[music |O Brother, Where Art Thou - Soggy Bottom Boys - I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow]

We performed our "big ball" routine for the prefrosh at Tiger Nite the other night, and it went really well (even putting in a lot of new/hard tricks that we'd never performed before :)! Then we juggled on the street at Communiversity all afternoon yesterday, which was also fun, but after a weekend full of juggling, I've really got to start working hard on my independent work report. I've got an outline done, so maybe I'll meet with my advisor early this week to go over it. It's due next Monday, so after that I'll have time to write up a "real" journal entry.

I'm. Tired. [Apr. 22nd, 2002|06:53 pm]
[mood |tired]
[music |Paul Simon - Under African Skies]

Well, we got the schedule for Frist for next year. The Juggling Club has the Feb. 20-22 weekend, which is pretty good. It was worth sitting through a two-hour meeting. I also had my Independent Work final presentation today, so now I will treat myself by playing a game of pick up bball in the gym tonight :). And tomorrow I get to take the drug test. I also should get some sleep. Then I might be able to write in slightly longer, more coherent sentences. Yeah.

FKB [Apr. 21st, 2002|12:19 am]
[mood |tired]
[music |Harry Chapin - Cat's In The Cradle]

Went to the Flying Karamazov Brothers show tonight (actually the "Others," four new members who they got so they could have two shows going at once). It was pretty good, especially when someone brought a slimy (dead) octopus on stage for the "champ" to juggle. Most entertaining. They also made a lot of moderately subtle lewd innuendoes, which made it interesting with all the kids in the audience (the two girls behind me: "Did they say 'deeper' or 'cheaper'" "I think cheaper"). We should remember that for next year.

Trip to HUP [Apr. 19th, 2002|03:51 pm]
[mood |impressed]

Well, Penn was interesting, to say the least. We got to walk into a few surgeries, and saw an operation where the chest was opened, the blood all drained, and the heart stopped. Pretty scary, but at the same time, it almost didn't seam real. The surgeries have a strange combination of being serious and formal, yet informal and relaxed at the same time. They even played background music in some of the rooms! We got to wear scrubs and masks and pretend like we were real doctors too. The Sleep Lab was also cool, where they have computerized trends of when the patients stop breathing (some for about 20 seconds or even 2 minutes!), and then when they wake up a few seconds later. Eating pizza for lunch in the middle of this all made it even more exciting. Definitely worth the trip.

drugs 'n' guts [Apr. 18th, 2002|08:23 pm]
Wow. I just got this, and it's already sucked up 2 hours of my life. I need to get a good bit of work done this weekend, because my independent work final presentation is on Monday. Plus tomorrow I'm going with my Medical Informatics class to visit Penn and watch some surgeries. I'll try to smuggle some Junior Mints into the room :). I also will have the honor of taking a drug test for my summer job next week. I'm excited! I think I should go to the local Thrift store and buy an old t-shirt with a big pot leaf on it, just to wear for the test. I can also stop washing and shaving in preparation for it. Any other suggestions? Ok, I should try to do some work of some sort now, but I'll probably end up just wasting more time or juggling.
